Appearance

Open Settings with ⌘, (Ctrl+,), then choose Appearance. Every change applies right away to every window. Reset to defaults undoes them.

Look

Look is a preset: Native, Arc or Graphite. The default is Native. If you change any other control below, the preset reads Custom. See The sidebar for what each look is.

Theme

Theme follows the system, or is always Light or Dark. The options are Match system, Light and Dark.

Color

These controls apply to the Arc and Graphite looks. Native has no space color, so Island hides them there.

• Space colors: each space tints the sidebar with its own color. Pick one of ten presets or type a hex color such as #7C5CFF.
• Sidebar tint: how strongly the space color washes the sidebar and the window margin.

Layout

• Sidebar density: Comfortable or Compact.
• Sidebar position: Left or Right.
• Page corner radius: 0, 6, 10 or 14 (macOS).
• Full bleed: the page fills its side edge to edge, with no inset, rounding or shadow.
• Page card shadow: one soft shadow under the page card.

Text

Interface font: Geist (bundled), System (the platform font), or Custom family. For a custom family, type the name of any installed font family.

Good to know

• The rounded, shadowed page card is macOS only. Other platforms keep square corners and the platform window frame.
• The frameless Arc window, with the traffic lights over the sidebar, is also macOS only.
